OutrunThe figure sprinted away from the angry crowd and headed towards a gap between the buildings. Skirting around some of the people on the fringe of the crowd and jumping over a bench, he ran for the dark opening, wanting to leave the square. There were shouts of astonishment from those he quickly passed and of protest from ones in the middle of the mass. Once he reached the alley, still water and grime splashed onto his boots and the hem of his jeans as he ran through the undersized puddles in it. His dark eyes started to constantly dart around, searching his surroundings, looking for the perfect way to escape the enraged group. He could hear tOutrun

HelpWalking up to the once grand Southern mansion, I cant help but gaze at it. The designs carved into the wooden pillars uniquely mesmerize me as they flow from one to another. On the walls I can see the light wood concealed under the chipping white paint. As I climb the creaking steps, I feel the house calling to me, luring me in, and warning me away. I reach up my hand to strike the knocker but quickly snatch it back for a grotesque demons face stares down at me. It and its twin glower at me challengingly. Menacingly. I knock on the door and wait. The door glides open and I put on a friendly smile which slowly disappearHelp

DarknessThe quiet splash of raindrops as they collide with the pavement adds to the silent cacophony of the night. There are few street lamps on this road so one would have a difficult time discerning his shadowed face as he passes under them. An air of menace surrounds his predatory form as he silently walks by.Darkness

Older than you areThe old lamp casts just enough light for me to see myself in the faded mirror, leaving the far corners of the room in shadows. Bits of auburn hair dust the floor and sink. The sound of dripping water relentlessly fills my ears. When I look in the mirror I can see my mothers sparkling green eyes and butter skin. Moving the jagged strands with my fingers, I try to arrange my hair into a decent fashion. Water drops landing on me draws my attention to May, my little sister, who was splashing in the tin tub. Her wet hair looks a shade darker than mine and she has the mud brown eyes of our father. I smile, enjoying her child-likeOlder than you are

"Damn, Kel. Take it easy with that." That was Pete, backing away from the flare. Keller tossing the bottle to him. The flare . . . "
A shudder runs down my spine. The remnant of eyewear looks as if a fist crumpled it, but Keller wasn't a fighter and P

What Happened? - Part 1What Happened? Part 1What Happened? - Part 1
The putrid stench of vomit intermingled with burnt cinders greets my nostrils the moment I enter the mausoleum.
I yank the sunglasses from my face to allow my eyes adjust to the dimness. From a shattered skylight high above the entry foyer, a single ray of light penetrates the darkness like an unforgiving knife, pointing at the source of the ashy smell. I step towards the black mess on the floor, curious yet wary. As I move closer, I begin to remember. Brief flickers of memories play through my mind as I investigate the charred circle on polished marble. Like a teaser for a movie. One wh
